The Congress on Monday attacked Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for not appearing before the Supreme Court-appointed Special Investigation Team in connection with a post-Godhra riots case, saying it only proves he has a 'guilty conscience' and has a 'lot to hide'. Congress spokesperson Abhishek Singhvi said if Modi 'genuinely' has respect for law and the court, he should appear before the SIT within the given time.
"Certainly, absolutely, totally...Supplementary chargesheet can and will be filed," party spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said when asked whether such an action will be taken against all those who have been named in the Commission's report but against whom there are no FIRs.
The Congress on Tuesday backed the suspension of seven members from the Rajya Sabha for their unruly behaviour over the women's bill, for the remaining part of the session, saying the provocation was 'rarest of the rare'."The decision of the Chair was certainly rarest of the rare but the provocation too was rarest of the rare," Abhishek Singhvi said. "A small minority cannot take the country to ransom," the spokesman said.
